Your information

Privacy notice

A straightforward explanation of the information used to review a stay request, communicate with guests, and operate Cozy Cottage.

Effective

1. Who handles the information

Cozy Cottage is operated by individual owners doing business as CDO Homes in Nebraska. This notice applies to information sent through this website or provided while arranging and managing a stay.

2. Information that may be collected

  • Contact details, such as a name, email address, and phone number.
  • Request details, such as proposed dates, number of guests, and a message or question.
  • Booking and stay records created if a request is approved, including communications, agreements, payment status, and support or incident notes when relevant.
  • Basic technical records used to operate and protect the website, such as IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, and security logs.
  • Security-check results and short-lived request-limit records used to reduce automated or repeated form submissions. The request-limit records use keyed, one-way representations of the submitting IP address and email rather than storing those values directly in the limit record.

The stay-request form does not collect payment. When secure payment is enabled for an approved stay, card details are collected by the selected payment processor rather than stored by the CDO Homes website. The owners may receive limited transaction information such as status, amount, and a processor reference.

The request form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish legitimate submissions from automated abuse. Cloudflare may process technical information such as the submitting IP address and browser or device signals to provide that security check. The form cannot be submitted when the check is unavailable or unsuccessful.

3. How information is used

  • Review availability and respond to a stay request.
  • Prepare a quote and, if approved, manage the reservation.
  • Send necessary owner and guest communications before, during, and after the stay.
  • Provide access instructions, support, safety information, and property operations.
  • Keep financial, tax, agreement, and dispute records when required or reasonably necessary.
  • Prevent fraud, misuse, or threats to guests and the property.

Submitting a stay request does not by itself enroll a guest in promotional messages.

4. When information may be shared

Information may be shared with service providers only as reasonably needed to operate the website or a stay—for example hosting, communications, payment processing, property access, cleaning, or professional accounting and legal support. Providers receive only the information appropriate to their role.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect a person or the property, investigate fraud, or resolve a booking dispute.

CDO Homes does not sell personal information.

5. Retention and security

Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including completing a stay, maintaining tax and business records, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. Different records may require different retention periods. Copies may remain temporarily in routine backups after active records are removed.

Request-limit records are retained only for short anti-abuse windows and then become eligible for deletion. They are not used to advertise to guests or to build marketing profiles.

The owners and their providers use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information involved. No website, transmission, or storage system can promise absolute security, so guests should not send sensitive information that has not been requested.

6. Choices and questions

A guest may ask to review or correct the contact and request details they provided. Some records may need to be retained for tax, legal, safety, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes.

To make a privacy request, reply to the owner communication associated with the relevant request or confirmed stay. For a question affecting a genuine proposed stay, use the optional Notes field in the stay-request form. Do not submit card details or government identification through that form.

7. Updates to this notice

This notice may be updated as the website and booking process change. The updated date at the top indicates the version currently posted. Material changes that affect an existing confirmed booking will be handled according to the documents accepted for that booking.
